Biography

Dr. Wilckyster N. Nyarindo is a dedicated academic and accomplished researcher in Agricultural Economics, with a PhD from the University of Western Australia and an MSc in Agribusiness Management from Egerton University, Kenya. She currently lectures at the University of Embu, specializing in agricultural marketing, trade and policy analysis, institutional economics, and agricultural development.

With a strong background in both qualitative and quantitative research, Dr. Nyarindo has extensive experience in econometric modelling, which she applies to solve critical agricultural and development challenges. Her research is geared toward addressing issues of agricultural innovations & technology transfer, food security, rural livelihoods, and sustainable farming practices. Dr. Nyarindo is passionate about gender equality and the empowerment of marginalized groups within agriculture.

As a fellow of the Open Doors Fellowship Program at Ghent University, Belgium, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), and the John Allwright Fellowship, which continues to train her leadership and research skills, Dr. Nyarindo is committed to advancing the role of women in science and agriculture. She actively seeks collaborations with researchers, institutions, and development organizations to drive inclusive and sustainable agricultural development.

Short Biography:

I am a Kenyan citizen with extensive experience in natural resources management. I have fast experience working for Non-State and State agencies as well as international organizations. I have previously served as a consultant of the World Bank in the development of Phase II of Lake Victoria Environmental Management Program (LVEMP II), a Director of Programs and Strategic Initiatives at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and as a regional Programme Manager for Natural Resources Management at the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA).

(i)    Economics of natural resources
(ii)    Climate change adaptation and mitigation
(iii)    Policy analysis

Short Biography:

I am a Kenyan by birth. I hold a PhD in Agricultural extension from the University of Embu. I have Msc and a Bsc in Agricultural Education and Extension from Egerton University. I have taught secondary school Agriculture and Biology for 6 years during which I served as the Head of Technical Department, Patron Young farmers club for four years, Young Christian students Patron for 5years and Coordinator for Agriculture projects for the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) in Tharaka Nithi County for two years. I have also taught as a part-time lecturer in Meru University of Science and Technology in the School of Agriculture and Food science.

  • Banana production with special interest in extension technology transfer agents and banana value chain

Biography

Hezron Joined the University of Embu, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension in March 2013 as a Tutorial Fellow. He obtained his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics & Management from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing, China and a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Egerton University, Kenya in collaboration with University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Isaboke’s broad research interest ranges from rural households’ production to production & management/financial analysis of agribusiness farms/firms.
